Quick answerDouble G paints homes all over Coronado, from tall three-story houses on narrow lots to craftsman cottages and smooth-stucco moderns. We've documented six Coronado projects below. Our crew handles the stucco, shingle and wood repair salt air causes, and works the tight side yards without needing the neighbors' property.
What makes Coronado homes different to paint
Narrow lots and tall houses
Many Coronado homes are built nearly lot line to lot line, three stories tall, with a few feet of side yard. Getting to the upper walls takes the right access equipment and planning. On our tall, narrow home project and narrow-access home, the crew worked entirely within the property, with no imposing on neighbors.
Salt air on every side
The island is surrounded by the bay and the ocean, so every elevation gets marine air. Bare wood weathers fast, metal rusts, and paint chalks sooner. Thorough priming of bare wood and metal matters even more here.
Architecture worth preserving
Coronado has a long history and a lot of character to protect: craftsman cottages, Spanish Revival, Victorian-era homes and cedar-shingled beach houses alongside newer modern builds. Detailed trim, shingles and original woodwork call for hand work and the right primers. See historic home painting.
Rentals and second homes
Plenty of Coronado homes are rentals or second homes. We can run the project while you're away, with photo updates, and schedule around rental calendars.

What San Diego Clients Say
Read on GoogleAmazing! That's the easiest way to say it. From the initial contact through to the very end, everything was amazing with Double G Painting. We needed the exterior of our 1911 Craftsman painted, along with some restoration work, and they made everything look great. So easy to work with. The painters were complete pros -- and awesome people to boot. Would highly recommend Double G to anyone looking to get their house painted.
Read on GoogleI had a wonderful experience with Double G Painting. They installed new flooring in our home and the whole process was smooth from start to finish. The team was friendly, professional, and kept everything clean while they worked. The floors look amazing and you can really tell they take pride in their work. I’d definitely recommend Double G to anyone needing flooring done.
Read on GoogleWe had Double G paint our nearly 100-year-old house. First, we needed some carpentry work done. David came and did an excellent job repairing a rotted out door threshold and replacing some shingles. Carlos and Francisco did the painting, and they too did an excellent job. They did a lot of prep work on our windows and doors and then did a meticulous job of painting. They were always cheerful, seemed to enjoy the work and were easy to work with if we had concerns. We are very pleased with the results!
Painting in Coronado: FAQ
How do you paint a tall Coronado home with almost no side yard?
With compact scaffolding and tall ladders set up inside the property line, careful masking, and a work sequence planned around the tight space. We don't need to use the neighbors' yard to reach the upper floors, and we let neighbors know when work will be happening near the shared side.
How long does exterior paint last in Coronado?
Coronado is surrounded by water, so salt air and sun are harder on paint than inland. With proper prep and quality products, expect roughly 5 to 8 years on the most exposed walls and longer on protected sides. Wood trim and doors need attention soonest.
Do I need city approval to change my exterior colors in Coronado?
Most homes don't, but if your home is a designated historic resource or in a review area, check with the City of Coronado before changing colors or materials. If you have an HOA, check its approved colors as well. We can provide paint and color details for any submission.
Do you paint cedar shingle homes?
Yes. Cedar shingles are common in Coronado. They need extra prep (cleaning, scraping, replacing split or rotted shingles, and priming end grain) for even coverage, and we can stain or paint them.
