Exterior Repaint of a Tall, Narrow Coronado Home
A three-story home on a narrow Coronado lot, weathered by sun and salt air, fully primed and repainted with minimal access on either side.

The goal
Like a lot of homes near the water, this one had taken years of wind, sun and salt air. The paint was faded and failing, and the homeowner wanted to repair, restore and extend the life of the exterior, not just change its color.
The challenge
This is the classic Coronado tall-and-narrow house: three stories on a narrow lot, with only a few feet of clearance on either side. Neither we nor the homeowner wanted to impose on the neighbors for access. Working three stories up in tight side yards takes planning: the right ladders and scaffolding, careful masking, and a sequence that keeps the work moving without spilling onto the next property.
What we did
- Washed and scraped all siding and trim down to sound paint
- Repaired damaged areas of trim and siding
- Primed the entire house, including all bare wood, before any color went on
- Painted the body a blue-gray with crisp white trim, railings and balconies
- Worked from tall ladders and compact scaffolding in the side yards
The progress photos show the house fully primed in white before the color coats. On weathered coastal siding, that full prime coat is what gives the finish coats something solid to hold onto.
The result
The before-and-after photos tell the story: a tired, chalky exterior turned into a crisp, uniform finish, delivered on time and on budget. It's a good example of what we do across Coronado, where narrow lots and coastal exposure are the norm. See more on our Coronado painting page.
