Cost and estimates
How much does it cost to paint a house exterior in San Diego?
Every property is different, so we provide pricing in a detailed written proposal after a free on-site estimate. The main factors are the size and height of the home, surface condition, the preparation and repairs needed, and the coating system.
How much does interior painting cost?
Every property is different, so we provide pricing in a detailed written proposal after a free on-site estimate. Room count and size, ceilings, trim and doors, drywall repair and color changes all affect the scope.
How much does commercial painting cost?
Pricing is provided in a written proposal after a free on-site estimate, based on surface conditions, preparation requirements, access and scheduling needs.
How much paint does a 2,000 sq ft exterior take?
Typically 15 to 20 gallons for two coats, more for rough stucco or a dramatic color change.
Are estimates free?
Yes. Estimates are free and on-site. You then receive a detailed written proposal, with no obligation.
Why do quotes from different painters vary so much?
Mostly because of prep and repairs. A low bid often skips scraping, priming, caulking or stucco and wood repair, or uses fewer coats or cheaper paint. Ask every contractor to list prep steps, repairs, products and coats so you can compare fairly.
Timing and scheduling

How soon can you start?
Start dates depend on the season and our schedule. We'll discuss timing with you when we provide your proposal.
What's the best time of year to paint outside in San Diego?
Spring and fall are ideal, with mild temperatures and lower humidity. We paint year-round but avoid rain and damp surfaces and work around the morning marine layer near the coast.
Prep, products and process
What prep do you do before painting?
Pressure washing, scraping and sanding loose paint, repairing stucco cracks and rotted wood, caulking gaps, spot-priming bare surfaces, and masking and covering everything that isn't being painted. The proposal lists the prep for your project.
What paint brands do you use?
Premium lines from manufacturers like Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, chosen for each surface. We'll list the exact products in your proposal, and you're welcome to request a specific line.
Do you use low-VOC paint?
Yes. Low-VOC and zero-VOC options are standard for interiors and occupied commercial spaces.
Do you offer color consultations?
Yes, free with every project. We'll brush out samples on your walls so you can see them in your own light.
Can you paint while we live in the house?
Yes. We work room by room, move and cover furniture, use low-odor paints, and clean up daily.
How do you handle lead paint on older homes?
Homes built before 1978 may have lead-based paint. We use lead-safe work practices on those homes: containment, wet scraping and sanding, careful cleanup and proper disposal.
Licensing, warranty and payment
Is Double G licensed?
Yes. California CSLB License #1104525, active, with B (General Building) and C-33 (Painting & Decorating) classifications. The license is held by Southern California Income Property Services Inc., is bonded, and the company carries workers' compensation insurance. Verify it on the CSLB website.
Why does it matter that you have a B license?
The B General Building classification lets our own crew do the carpentry, siding, stucco and other repairs a paint job often needs. A painting-only contractor would have to send you to someone else or paint over the damage.
What warranty do you offer?
Qualifying work is backed by our written one-year warranty, subject to its terms and exclusions. See the full terms and exclusions.
How can I pay?
Check or major credit card (cards carry a 3% processing fee). You can pay your invoice online.
Commercial, apartments and HOAs
Do you paint apartments and rental properties?
Yes, including unit turnovers between tenants, common areas and full exterior repaints. Apartment painting.
Do you work with HOAs?
Yes. We do phased community repaints on approved color schedules and single-unit repaints to HOA specs. HOA painting.
Can you work after hours for businesses?
Yes. Interior commercial work can be scheduled for evenings and weekends to avoid disrupting your business.
