University City: A Black & White Exterior Makeover

The goal

The family wanted their University City home to feel like a better fit for them: a modern, high-contrast look instead of the dated tan exterior and brown deck.

What we did

• Pressure washed the entire exterior to remove dirt and loose, failing paint
• Repaired stucco damage and resurfaced the stucco for a uniform base
• Masked doors, windows and garage doors for spraying
• Painted the body white with black fascia, trim and accents
• Painted the double front door and garage doors to match the new scheme
• Painted the second-story deck, boards and railings white

Black and white schemes are unforgiving: any wavy line where the two meet stands out. That's why so much of this job was masking and cutting in, as the progress photos show.

A sharp, modern exterior and a deck that now matches the house. The homeowner put it best:
