Clairemont Ranch Home: From Faded Tan to Crisp White and Charcoal
Mildewed, cracked tan stucco, weathered trim and old windows turned into a clean white exterior with charcoal trim and a freshly painted pergola.

- LocationClairemont, San Diego
- PropertySingle-story stucco ranch home
- ScopeStucco repair & refinish, trim and fascia repair, new windows, exterior repaint
- Completed2026
The starting point
This single-story Clairemont ranch had the problems we see on a lot of San Diego homes from the same era. The tan stucco had faded unevenly, the shaded side was streaked with mildew, cracks ran down from the eaves at the inside corners, and the wood window sills and trim were peeling down to bare, weathered wood.
Choosing the colors
The homeowner worked through a color selection with us and landed on a bright white body with charcoal trim, brackets and fascia, a classic, high-contrast look that makes a modest ranch house look sharp and current.
What we did
- Cleaned the mildew and dirt off the stucco
- Repaired stucco cracks and patched damaged areas, then refinished the walls for an even texture
- Repaired and replaced weathered fascia and trim
- Worked around the installation of new windows
- Painted the body white with charcoal fascia, brackets and window trim
- Painted the backyard pergola white to tie it into the house
The result
Compare the before and after photos below: the same house, but it now reads clean and new from the street and the backyard. Because the stucco and trim were repaired first, the new paint is sitting on sound surfaces instead of covering up cracks and rot. More on stucco painting and repairs before painting.
