The challenge

There's no tougher spot for paint in San Diego than right on the water. Salt spray, wind and full sun had peeled the paint off this home's walls and weathered the fascia and underside of the ocean-view deck.

What we did

• Scraped peeling paint from walls and the underside of the deck
• Repaired weathered deck fascia and trim
• Primed bare wood with a primer suited to marine exposure
• Painted the deck surface, railings, fascia and exterior walls
